How to Select a Folder Gluer for Corrugated Boxes

Check blank format, fold sequence, glue application and inspection needs when choosing a folder gluer.

A folder gluer is selected around the box blank, not just a catalog model name. The folding path, glue joint and finished box dimensions determine whether a job can run reliably. Collect representative drawings and board samples before discussing equipment configuration.

Folder gluer workflow from blank to bundled carton

Describe the blank

List open blank dimensions, flute construction, score layout and print side. Include the smallest and largest boxes you expect, plus any unusual flap geometry. If the job requires stitching rather than gluing, identify it early so the finishing process can be considered separately.

Confirm folding and bonding

For each common box style, agree on the fold direction, glue position and joint width. Ask how boards are fed, guided, folded, compressed and counted. Material stiffness and score quality influence the result; a poorly scored blank can be difficult to fold even with a suitable gluer.

Compare the stated envelope

The XR-FG-1200 folder gluer lists a maximum blank width of 1200 mm, 150 m/min design speed and 3-ply/5-ply board compatibility. Validate your specific blank dimensions and board grades against the offered configuration. Ask for a run plan based on typical orders, not only the maximum speed.

Inspect finished cartons

Check squareness, joint adhesion, glue placement and visible damage. Count and bundle requirements can also affect the end-of-line setup. Share your acceptance criteria with the supplier so the quotation describes the finished result you need.
